TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) Post-Op Instructions

Thank you for choosing Genesis Dentists for your TAD (Temporary Anchorage Device) placement. These TADs after-care instructions are designed to help you heal comfortably and ensure the stability of your orthodontic treatment. Please read this guide carefully and save it for future reference.

What to Expect After Your TAD Procedure

  • Mild discomfort or pressure near the TAD site for 24–48 hours.
  • Slight swelling or tenderness around the gums.
  • A small amount of bleeding immediately after placement
These symptoms are normal and should improve quickly.

Pain Management

  • Take over-the-counter pain relief (e.g., ibuprofen or paracetamol) as recommended.

Brushing

  • Brush gently around the TAD area twice a day.
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid irritation.

    water).
  • You may also use an alcohol-free antibacterial mouthwash.

Cleaning the TAD

Eating & Drinking Guidelines

  • Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods for the first 48 hours.
  • Refrain from chewing directly on the TAD area.
  • Stick to soft foods such as yogurt, soup, pasta, eggs, and smoothies.
  • Avoid extremely hot or spicy foods for the first day.

Activities to Avoid

  • Do not touch or move the TADs with your tongue or fingers.
